MERIDA, YUCATAN – Following last year’s successful event, Mérida is gearing up for the 2015 Mérida Music Festival, which will take place on Sunday 8th March at Hacienda Dzibikak.
As last year, the festival is styled on the European / North American concept of an all-day music festival (rather than a concert), offering a pleasant location to enjoy with friends, good food, and drink, while also appreciating the various different styles of music performed.
On the bill this year for the 4th edition of the event are performances by CopyPaste (covers of well-known artists); Los Twangs (old fashioned rock & roll); Lanugo (rock); Los Lásgori; a tribute to Amy Winehouse by Gina Osorno; Maydel & her Cuban band; Batucada do Fogo; and Divas (tributes to 80s rock divas).
Food and drink vendors currently expected include T Bar, C’est Pantastic, Le Café de Bruxelles, La Bierhaus, Amuza Social Food, The Beer Box, Green Station, and La Bodeguita del Medio. Apoala will be taking care of the catering in the VIP area.
Last year, Save the Children benefited from the event; this year La Fundación Dondé will be the beneficiary. For over 100 years, La Fundación Dondé has been dedicated to promoting education and development of children and youth in Mexico. More information about the foundation is available on the festival website.
Tickets are available for pre-sale at Hennessy’s Irish Pub, La Bierhaus (Colonia México and Centro), Ki’Xocolatl, T Bar, C’est Pantastic, and The Beer Box for $300 pesos, or $350 pesos at the gate on the day. A limited number of VIP tickets, including buffet, open bar, and access to the main house at the hacienda are available for $1000 pesos each. The festival website provides addresses of the pre-sale locations. Children under 12 enter free, and onsite parking is also free of charge.
A bus service will operate from Mérida (boarding at Hennessy’s Irish Pub on Paseo de Montejo) at a cost of $50 pesos round-trip. Buy your bus transportation when buying your tickets for the festival.
For more information, and a map showing the location of the hacienda, visit the website http://meridamusicfestival.com/; join the festival on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/pages/Merida-Music-Festival/439710732741887 or follow them on Twitter at http://twitter.com/MeridaMusicFest
So come on out to Hacienda Dzibikak on Sunday 8th March to enjoy an afternoon of fun, great music, and food in a spectacularly beautiful location, while supporting an excellent cause.
