Xi and Peña Nieto attended opening ceremony of Mayan civilization exhibition in China

President Xi Jinping has held talks his Mexican counterpart Enrique Pena Nieto and accompanied them to attend the opening ceremony of this exhibition of Mayan civilization titled “Maya, the language of beauty” in the National Museum in Beijing.

Xi said China and Mexico have splendid cultural and historical heritage and have made indelible contribution to human civilization worldwide. Xi said during his visit to Mexico last year that the Itza Maya monument left a deep impression on him.

Xi declared he hopes that Mexican Pena Nieto’s China visit can provide great opportunities for cultural exchanges.

Pena Nieto said the Maya civilization is the cradle of American Indian culture. It is one of the most ancient civilization. He said his the Mayan civilization can act as a bridge between Chinese and Mexican cultures.
