More than 80% of Mexican women have suffered family, labor, community or institutional violence

During the Eighth Session of the Permanent Seminar on Family Violence, Guadalupe Magdalena Sánchez Palacios, criminologist of the National Institute of Penal Sciences (Inacipe), said that women from all economic and cultural levels have suffered violence at home.

During the Eighth Session of the Permanent Seminar on Family Violence organized by the Department of Social Development of Mexico City, Sánchez said that women from all economic and cultural levels have suffered violence at home.

The expert added that even though policies to prevent attacks against women have been implemented, more than 80% of Mexican women have suffered family, labor, community or institutional violence.

Even though policies to prevent assaults against women have been implemented, experts say that more than 80% of Mexican women have suffered family, labor, community or institutional violence.

According to figures from the System for the Integral Development of the Family of Mexico City (DIF-DF), between 10% and 50% of the capital city’s youngsters have considered committing suicide due to family violence, disintegration, sexual abuse, and addictions, among other factors.
