A tropical depression will bring heavy rains to the states of Guerrero, Michoacán, Colima and Jalisco on the Mexican Pacific Coast.

Tropical Depression 18 is located 315 miles south – southwest of Manzanillo. The depression continues to move west at about 14 mph.

Moderate to strong shear is forecast to remain over the tropical cyclone through about the next 24 hours then relax slowly as Depression 18 remains on a mostly westerly course.

Once the shear relaxes thunderstorms and convective showers will wrap around the north side of the circulation and this plus warm ocean water will allow the depression to strengthen into a tropical storm.

This should happen later tomorrow and Depression 18 should become tropical storm “Rachel”.

The National Water Commission (Conagua) indicated that the tropical depression will bring heavy rains to the states of Guerrero, Michoacán, Colima and Jalisco.
