On Thursday August 21st the body of Psychiatrist Felipe de Jesus Triay Peniche was found in his truck at the Chedraui parking lot in Caucel, just a few miles west of Merida.  He had suffered 22 stab wounds.
According to preliminary investigations, the body was identified as Felipe de Jesus Triay Peniche, approximately 42 years old, who had been reported missing since Saturday August 16th.
Chedraui customers had reported a foul smell coming from a vehicle in the parking lot.  Officers of the State Attorney General’s Office arrived at the scene and secured the perimeter around the black 2009 Nissan Rogue SUV with license plates 92-84 YZU which was owned by the deceased.
The store’s parking lot staff was questioned, but it was not possible to determine who drove the car onto the premises.
There are hundreds of cars parked here, we can not tell who the drivers are,” said one of the parking lot attendants.

The vehicle was removed from the parking lot by crane, and experts continued the investigation behind closed doors.
According to the autopsy, the cause of death was acute hemorrhagic anemia due to cardiac visceral perforation by a sharp object (in other words, the man bled to death after being stabbed in the heart). From the state of decomposition of the body, forensics staff determined the victim had been dead for four days.
The Attorney General’s Office confirmed the identity of the victim and initiated the investigation to solve the murder.
