The campaign to eliminate the mosquito that transmits dengue on the Yucatan coast has started in Progreso, and will cover all the Yucatecan shore, from El Cuyo to Celestun.
On behalf of the mayor, Daniel Zacarias Martinez, Secretary Emilio Gongora Ortegon stated that the municipal administration is concerned about the health of the inhabitants. The effort, which began on Sunday July 20th with trash removal and fumigation, continues the ongoing fight against dengue.
We are focusing on three points:
1) Prevention: which includes fumigation and trash removal.
2) Combined efforts between different levels of government as well as educational and private institutions.
3) Citizen participation to identify where the mosquitoes are breeding,” declared Ortegon Góngora.

I would suggest they use DEET…very effective and the campaign to stop using is totally false. Banning Deet in Africa has resulted in many lives lost to disease which was previously under control.
