Querétaro, Colima and Mérida the Best Cities to live in Mexico

The quality of their housing , their schools, mobility and environmental conditions , the access to cultural centers, recreation and fellowship , in addition to its natural beauty are elements that position Queretaro, the Metropolitan area of ​​Monterrey, Mérida and Colima as the best cities to live in Mexico.

Out of 51 cities that were evaluated, 4 stand out in a first group for the best perception expressed by 28 thousand citizens in a survey conducted by the agency known as Strategic Communication Cabinet (GCE), to determine the “Quality of Life Index” ICAV (Gabinete de Comunicación Estratégica (GCE), para integrar el Índice de Calidad de Vida “ICAV”).

For second consecutive year, Querétaro , Colima and Mérida, Yucatán remain at the top positions ; Monterrey climbed from 15th to second place; and Hermosillo, Sonora went down from third to sixth place.

Features such as adequate services, affordable housing , access to public and private schools, mobility, urban transportation, air quality, recreation facilities, peaceful coexistence among the population, museums and attractions for locals and tourists, historical and cultural sites among others, have been analyzed by the  ICAV, in order to determine this ranking.

The ICAV also considers other factors such as natural beauty, perception of life improvement in the city over the previous year and compared to other cities , and all this data is then processed, analyzed and measured in satisfaction scales.

La Paz Baja California ascended from 12th to 5th place in the ranking, leading the second group of best cities to live, along with Hermosillo, Saltillo, Los Mochis, Aguascalientes, Piedras Negras, Culiacán and Tampico.

Citizens’ opinions collected by the GCE Agency via telephone between July 11 and August 19 2013, defined the following cities in a third block: Chihuahua, Guanajuato , Cancún, Mexicali , Pachuca, San Luis Potosi , Ensenada , Guadalajara Metropolitan Area , Matamoros , Tijuana, Puebla , Ciudad Cuauhtémoc , León, Durango , Ciudad del Carmen , Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz and Tepic .

Based on the results,a fourth group was established, featuring the following 15 cities : Ciudad Juarez, Nogales , Mexico City, Ciudad Victoria , Campeche , Toluca , Chetumal , Xalapa , Reynosa , Tlaxcala , Morelia , Villahermosa , Torreón , Lazaro Cardenas and Cuernavaca ; while the fifth and last group was formed by Chilpancingo, Tehuacan, Tuxtla Gutiérrez , Acapulco, Oaxaca and Zacatecas.
