The remodeling works of the historic center of Campeche is still several weeks away of concluding, as the closure of museums such as Fort San José el Alto, have led to domestic and foreign tourists shorten their stay in the city recognized the president of the Association of Hotels and Motels in Campeche, Vanessa Arceo Otal.

A few days before the Easter holiday period begins not many reservations are made. Arceo Otal reiterated that due to the refurbishment of the historic center and the closure of sites, there are tourists that make last minute changes and leave the hotel, because there are not enough open attractions and is not worth staying another day.

“There is discomfort, there have been complaints, although hoteliers know that works are necessary and that we´ll see the benefits. Many tourists that arrive are surprised to see various sites closed and have bad impressions and therefore bad experiences. The works done to the city must go faster, to fulfill the demands of the tourists visiting us”.
