Six fishermen still lost at sea

On April 9, the vessel “Pulmeros Costeños” sailed from Yucalpetén with three crew members, two of whom were identified as Wilbert Gabriel Pastrana Muniz, 42 years old, and Jose Luis Cervantes Couoh, 38 years old and did not return the day they were supposed to.
Their relatives immediately reported the case to the Coast Guard, fearing for their lives, as the strong cold front that entered the region caused high waves and strong winds. Authorities launched a search operation immediately, without success so far.
There is a second case, the vessel “Chato” came out of  Progreso on Thursday April 16, with three crew members from Veracruz identified as Gabriel Perez Inclan, 27 year-old, Noé Gustavo Pérez Cruz, 32, and Hugo Alberto Hernández de la Cruz, 23. Presumably they got lost somewhere near Sisal. When their families had no news of them, they also went to the Coast Guard to report the missing fishermen.
In order to provide their support to the community, Yucatecan businessmen offered their boats to carry out the search operation in different parts along the coast.
Families of these fishermen are desperate and distressed. The hopes that their relatives can come back alive have been fading slowly.
