Germany and Quintana Roo sign Mutual Cooperation Agreement

Luciano Sima, Mayor of the municipality of Lazaro Cardenas, Quintana Roo met with the honorary consul of Germany Rudolf Bittorf Schmitz, and both parties signed an agreement of mutual cooperation concerning touristic activity and security along with economic development.

The Mayor and Honorary Consul, agreed that joint efforts in these areas should be based on a short, medium and long term holistic view, to safeguard the integrity of the tourists and also the importance of taking care of the environment.

The event highlights the positive effect that “Together for Safety” campaign has had, which was implemented by the Lazaro Cardenas Municipality in coordination with the “Autobuses ADO” Bus transportation company, and promptly promoted by the European consular representation.

Sima Cab recalled that in recent months, he had reports that criminals took advantage of the carelessness of visitors to steal their belongings, especially foreigners and therefore, it was established the presence of a member of the police on buses that run through the city, “Order which will last throughout my administration,” the Mayor said.

Meanwhile, Bittorf Schmitz said that about 100 thousand German tourists arrive annually to the state, interested in culture and natural beauty. “Quintana Roo is characterized by being significantly safer than other parts of Mexico … that´s why we´ll continue to promote the affluence of German tourism to the state. And from now on, and in particular, to Holbox, “ the consul concluded.
