Beach houses and apartments, exclusively designed with services for retired American and Canadian senior citizens age 65 and up, known as Baby Boomers,  will soon be a reality in Cancun. There are plans to reproduce the real estate development model built in Playa del Carmen, which has been created specially for this social segment.

One of the challenges for 2014 is to attract the market to acquire property in the main tourist destination in Mexico , that is why it  is so important to create special facilities for them”, said Miguel Angel Lemus Mateos, real estate developer and member of the AMPI  Quintana Roo Executive Board.

He said that he will meet with Canadian investors who launched the first development of this kind, not only in Quintana Roo, but in the whole Yucatan Peninsula , specifically created for retirees aged 65, in order to copy the idea and replicate it in Cancun and probably in Isla Mujeres as well.

The beach resort in Playa del Carmen has 52 houses with state of the art technology that reduces electricity consumption, using solar panels , a river and goes all the houses , each unit costs between 200 and 400 thousand dollars. Lemus Mateos said they sold 33 houses of which 30 are inhabited by Canadians.
