Women’s Justice Center in Yucatán to provide protection to victims of family violence

The Center for Women’s Justice in Yucatan (CJM), was inaugurated last Saturday March 8th, by President Enrique Peña Nieto and the State Governor Rolando Zapata Bello. This project has the purpose to provide immediate assistance and protection to victims of Family Violence.

The Justice Center for Women is built over an area of ​​4,500 square meters and over 700 square meters of construction, with an investment of 17 million pesos. The facility counts with medical areas, legal counsel, group therapy, games room, waiting room, baby Care Centre, playground, interview room, legal forensics, social work and counseling.

It is located on the premises of the Attorney General’s Office (FGE ), where 55 specialists will be working focusing on all areas of development as public health, education, infrastructure and employment for the women of Yucatan. The work team involves physicians, psychologists, social workers, lawyers, law enforcement officers,  civil associations representatives and academic institutions.

Yucatán is one of the first states in the country to have this kind of Justice Centre, to enforce women’s rights.
