Street vendors will not be evicted from Chichen Itza

After the rumor posted by some Yucatecan media saying that street vendors would be evicted from the Chichen Itza archaeological site, the Director of Cultur in Yucatan, Enrique Magadan Villamil, immediately denied this statement.

Apparently, these peddlers that have invaded all the archaeological site of Chichen Itza for years and have grown steadily monopolizing every corner of the area open to the public, are untouchable.

Indeed they are, since the State Official declared: “I do not know where the rumor came from but street vendors are staying”.

“There has been absolutely nothing about an eviction, there will be more control in order to avoid the presence of alcohol or drugs in the premises, but the vendors will be able to sell their products”.

Approximately 60,000 people are expected in Chichen Itza and about 6,000 in Dzibilchaltún for the Spring Equinox.
