By far the star of the show and scene-stealer extraordinaire was “Carlotta the pig” and her beautiful companion Katie Miasik…

The eight Oscar statuettes showed up at Hennessy’s Irish Pub on Sunday night, and were joined by a pet pig and scores of local denizens dressed to the nines.  The Gang of Eight, who first made their appearance on these pages last week, corresponded to the eight major categories of awards on Hennessy’s Oscar ballot, and they were there to see who would be taking them home.  The guest (or guests) with the greatest number of correct predictions would be eligible for the grand prize of a weekend getaway at Hacienda San Jose Pachul.  Competition was fierce, and in the end, four guests correctly predicted seven of the eight Oscar winners, with the prizewinner selected by random drawing.

But by far the star of the show and scene-stealer extraordinaire was Carlotta the pig and her beautiful companion Katie Miasik.  In fact, all eight Oscar statuettes wanted to go home with Carlotta and Katie, but were bound by the rules of the Academy.  One Oscar had to go home with Matthew McConaughey, who, we later discovered, spent the entire night talking about himself.

The Oscars at Hennessy’s was a night of glitter, glamor and bling, not to mention healthy doses of adult beverages.  We all look forward to more of the same next year.
