Campeche celebrates the World Day of Poetry

On Friday, March 21 the world day of poetry will be celebrated in the city of Campeche with 1,600 people participating in several activities.


Activities will start at 6 pm with the reading of poems by local, national and international writers,  that will take place in reading rooms insatlled in private homes, public spaces and outdoors, where people will meet as part of this program.

At the same time , students from the Poetic Creation Workshop , conducted by Professor Manuel Pino Castilla, will read poems that they have developed and perfected during the course.


Also at 7pm in the Main Park, readings from the literary pampanera (pampanera literaria) will be held, with the participation of collaborators from the “Salas de Lectura” reading program.


It should be noted that the event is open to the general public and anyone who wishes to read their own material, and also books will be given away to the attendance.


This celebration is intended to support linguistic diversity through poetic expression and to encourage and promote the teaching of this legendary tradition that allows our communities regain and assert their identity.
