The International String Quartet of Yucatan will be performing on Thursday April 17th 2014, 8 pm at beautiful Hacienda Xcanatun, a XVIII Century “henequen” (sisal) hacienda, that has been transformed into an exclusive small luxury hotel with 18 individually decorated suites. .

The International String Quartet of Yucatan will be playing two Classical Pieces for String quartet:

1) JEAN SIBELIUS String Quartet in “D” Minor Op. 56 “Voces Intimae”

Sibelius‘ String Quartet in D minor, Op. 56 (1908-1909) is his only mature string quartet, and the only substantial chamber work he produced after the turn of the century. The piece dates from the period between the Third and Fourth symphonies. Like the Fourth Symphony, the quartet is an introspective work; however, as the subtitle, “Intimate Voices,” suggests, Sibelius creates a profoundly intimate, even mysterious, atmosphere of a sort that would be impossible to realize in a symphonic work.
2) MAURICE RAVEL String Quartet in “F” Major

Maurice Ravel completed his String quartet in F major in early April 1903 at the age of 28. Dedicated to his friend and teacher Gabriel Fauré, the work was introduced in Paris by the Heymann Quartet on March 5, 1904. The quartet follows a strict four movement classical structure.

If you enjoy classical music, you will love this concert, because the International String Quartet of Yucatan helps you appreciate each note, pattern, and small detail, making you notice what each instrument brings to the piece.

Ticket price: $200 per person.
