The Merida Men’s Club ( MMC )

The Merida Men’s Club club was formed in 2005 by 6 retired gentlemen from the U.S. and Canada and 2 more gentlemen from Yucatan. The club is open to all gentlemen of all ages who wish to attend and enjoy a great breakfast buffet and the meeting of old and new friends.
There is no entry fee, no dues, we have no board of directors, no by-laws and therefore, none (or very little) drama. We do, however, have two charities we help out with peso donations at each breakfast and this is optional and up to the individual himself.
We meet every 1st and 3rd Tuesday morning of the month, at 8:00 am at the Hyatt Hotel  restaurant on the corner of Calle 60 and Ave. Colon. The cost of the buffet is $130.00 pesos per person and the money is collected just before we adjourn. The meeting is over, and we are done and gone by 9:30 am at the very latest.
We pass a basket into which each man deposits his $130.00 pesos ( required ), and any additional amount he wishes to contribute to the two charities. Our two charities are the Chicxulub Food Bank and the Kids Breakfast Program of Cholul.

Again the Mérida Men’s Club is open to any gentleman who wishes to attend and meet some new friends, enjoy a great breakfast and have the opportunity to help some people less fortunate than we are. We also from time to time have guest speakers attend and talk on subjects that are of interest to most if not all off our members.

The next Mérida Men’s Club breakfast is this coming Tuesday March 4th, same time, same place… Join us!

Here’s an example of the kind of activities that the Men’s Club carry out.
On Monday, December 10, 2012, the Merida Men’s Club organized what they called a “FACE LIFT”, doing some repairs and freshening up at Hogar Nueva Vida, which is basically a home for girls, located in the South of Mérida, Yucatán, that was founded back in 1996. The principal support and direction for Hogar Nueva Vida came inicially from the Diocese of Erie, Pennsylvania, USA.
A group, of not all just Merida Men’s Club men, and not all men  recently spent part of a day scraping, sanding, repairing, and fixing a few things in need of repair around the house, then they scheduled a follow-up painting day.

Here are a few photos to commemorate the event.
