Modernization of Puerto Progreso

On Monday February 10, green light was given for the new construction project of the “Alternate viaduct in Puerto Progreso”, the event took place at the Fisherman esplanade in that port.

Rolando Zapata Bello, Mayor of Yucatán, gave the green light along with Guillermo Ruiz de Teresa , General Coordinator of Ports and Merchant Marine of the Secretary of Transportation and Communications . The Governor emphasized the importance of these construction, as they contribute to the development of regional and national economy.

The Mayor of Progreso, Daniel Zacarias Martínez , said that this construction “Will give security to the people”.

More than 740 million pesos will be invested in the new alternate viaduct, Teresa Ruiz stated. This work is a part of the modernization and expansion of Puerto Progreso along with the  installation of a logistic platform . The work involves the construction of an alternate viaduct 2.5 kilometers long and 14 meters wide, two -lane, based on a structure of reinforced concrete.

It will Increase and modernize the already existing port infrastructure and will be able to increase the load carrying capacity by expanding the lines of communication between the Port and the City.
