Hyatt plans to open two luxury World Class Properties in Mexico’s Riviera Maya beach resort area, just south of Cancun.

The hotel company will bring both an edgy Andaz (where mini-bar snacks are free), and a Park Hyatt to the area, the Chicago-based company announced on February 3rd, 2014.

The 213-room Andaz Mayakoba is currently being designed for the luxury Mayakoba development, about a 40-minute drive from Cancun’s international airport (you can take a three hour non-stop flight from Washington’s Dulles airport to Cancun).

The gated development – set amid tranquil mangroves and man-made canals – currently contains three hotels all operating under eco-friendly sustainable features – a Banyan Tree, Rosewood and Fairmont. To give you an idea of the stays cost at these hotels, a room at the Banyan Tree right now costs a minimum of $500.

Ultimately, Mayakoba is slated to house a total of five hotels, Hyatt will be the fourth, and the fifth has not yet been announced.

The other luxury hotel slated for Riviera Maya will be the 220 room-Park Hyatt Riviera Maya, expected to open in 2016. It will be located within an upscale, mixed use hotel, residential and golf community on the beachfront. It will offer meeting space, three restaurants, a coffee shop, pool, spa, and a fitness center.
