“Aires de Bohemia” by the Symphonic Orchestra of Yucatan

The Symphonic Orchestra of Yucatan (OSY) will present the program no.3 “Aires de bohemia” (Bohemian Air) at the Jose Peon Contreras Theater next Friday February 7 and  Sunday 9, with the participation of the Italian Director Gabriele Pezone and bassoon (fagot) Miguel Galván from Veracruz, Mexico.

This presentation is part of the concerts that will be offered by the OSY from January to June, in celebration of its tenth anniversary.

“The audience will be able to enjoy the sound of the wooden bassoon (fagot), an instrument that rarely has a chance to be heard solo” this was explained yesterday, at a press conference.6_050214p3osis1-300x199

The program will include ” El Moldava” (The Moldau) by Bedrich Smetana , Bassoon Concert , K.191 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, solo by Miguel Galván, and Symphony No. 9 “Del nuevo mundo” (From the New World) by Antonín Dvorák .

Gabriele Pezone, 31-years- old, who made ​​his directorial debut in 2007, said (translated from Italian musician Davide Fanchin ) that “It is a pleasure to work with the Symphonic Orchestra of Yucatan because it has musicians from all around the world who enrich it”.

Pezone added that the first rehearsal was a success because the orchestra did everything he asked them to do, what makes him they will do a very good job.

He also mentioned that the Symphony No. 9 “Del Nuevo Mundo” (From the New World) is the dream of every Director, and this will not be his first time.

On the other hand, Miguel Galván, co-principal bassoon of the OSY, will play the Bassoon Concert, K.191 by Mozart, one of the most famous symphonies for this particular instrument. “This presentation is worth listening to because it is rarely programmed by any orchestra”, said Galván.



Galván also mentioned that he arrived in Merida five years ago and was amazed at how good the OSY was.
