5th Full Moon Jazz Festival at Villas Wayak

The Full Moon Jazz Festival at Villas Wayak is right around the corner on Saturday February 15th. For 5 years in a row, this Festival has been celebrated during the February Full Moon, in order to raise funds for “Telchac Education“, an organization that helps to finance education for the promising students of the fishing village of Telchac Puerto, Yucatan.

Many of these children have to drop out school before they get to 6th grade, due to lack of economic resources to afford expenses such as teaching aids, school supplies, uniforms, toilet paper, drinking water or contributions to the school library.

The best thing about this program is the fact that it is not charity, but a ‘Rewards Program’ for those students that have an excellent academic performance, outstanding grades and an average of 8.0 or above (on a scale of 1 – 10).

The fifth amazing jazz festival supporting the Telchac Education foundation on Telchac Puerto, will be held on one of the most beautiful Yucatecan beaches and the best jazz groups will be playing under the full moon.

The bands that will be performing are:

  • Merida Big Band
  • Yuniel “El Guajiro”
  • Jazz Sensitive

There will be transporation from Merida and Chelem, $50 pesos round trip per person.

  • Relieve the pressure caused by constant poverty that denies the students and teachers from receiving and providing an education, by providing the tangible things they need: books, uniforms, shoes, teaching materials and aids.

  • Reduce poverty through education. Promote education and well being for the students and teachers in Telchac Puerto, Yucatan, Mexico

  • Every human being deserves and has the right to an opportunity to learn.
  • Changing the life of just one child will have repercussions for generations to come.
  • When you educate a girl or woman, you educate a family.
  • We are creating a lasting impact in the life of a child.
  • To stimulate the teachers is to provide them with the tools they need to reach their students.
