After the rehabilitation of tourism infrastructure undertaken last year in several parts of the State of Yucatan, we can see that today, Puerto de Sisal has a new “urban face”.

With an investment of 23 million pesos, the repaving of Main Avenue, construction works on sidewalks, storm drainage, new landscaping and gardening, signage, lighting, underground wiring, restoration of facades, and renovation of the Park, the Fort and the Municipal Police Station, Sisal is ready to receive visitors from all over the world.

The works started last November, currently 90% of the remodeling is concluded. The authorities are confident that with these improvements, Sisal will be an attractive place for investors in the tourist industry, impacting the local economy in a very positive way.

As the main entry port in the peninsula during the XVIII century, the little and quite village of Sisal has an amazing history, to know more about it follow the links.

In fact, the fiber of the plant of “henequen”, which was known as the “green gold” of Yucatan, and that brought years of prospertity to the state, took the name of this port for the rest of the world ‘Sisal”.
