President of the Chamber of Commerce of Mérida (CANACOME), José Manuel López Campos, asked Governor Rolando Zapata Bello for Colon and Cupules Avenues to be modernized to improve the interconnection of the city.

“The repaving of the Colon and Cupules Avenues will complement the works made on Paseo de Montejo, Av. Itzaes and Calle 59”.  said the businessman.

In this regard, Governor Rolando Zapata Bello said his administration is ready and willing to address that request with the Strategic Plan Yucatan Foundation (Fundación del Plan Estratégico de Yucatán), which brings together numerous civil society groups.

“Every work opens a space for reflection to determine what are the next steps. We want to keep moving forward to have a more dynamic Yucatán in which everyone contributes”. he replied.

Zapata Bello said that in his first year in office $300 million pesos were allocated for various urban projects that have been already completed or are underway in the City of Merida.

On delivery ceremony of the work on Paseo de Montejo, José Enrique Canto Vivas, president of the Strategic Plan Yucatan Foundation, declared that it is necessary to revitalize the avenue with other new projects.

Regarding the Itzaes Avenue, the delegate of the Secretary of Communications and Transport, Jorge Montaño Michel said that the two parts of the avenue (19.26 kilometers) were paved from the Periferico to the Donde roundabout.

The Secretary of Communications and Transport will invest $ 1.400 million this year in Yucatan.
