More Government Financing for Small and Medium Enterprises in Mexico

Micro, small and medium yucatecan entrepreneurs now have the opportunity to strengthen their businesses through loans, financing and other banking products, following the signing of a cooperation agreement between the State Government and the National Bank for Foreign Trade (BANCOMEXT)

Governor Rolando Zapata Bello and the Director of Bancomext , Enrique de la Madrid Cordero, signed this agreement, which will help boost the growth of micro, small and medium enterprises (Mipymes) of the entity, which will result in the creation of more sources of employment.

During the event, held at the Directorate of Public Relations of the State Government at the Centro de Convenciones Siglo XXI, the governor said that “Mipymes” constitute one of the major productive forces of the entity, so to those who want to help increase the growth potential of these companies are more than welcome.

“We are confident that with this arrangement , companies will find in Yucatan a broad portfolio of possibilities regarding the export of their products and alternative services, we work to create conditions that will allow to have more expansion and thus bring more welfare to the Yucatan, “he stated.

Upon taking the word, the General director of Bancomext, Enrique de la Madrid Cordero added that the institution made loans and credits extended to enterprises in the tourism industry for over 4.5 billion pesos in the country, so this sector has special interest of the bank to promote the development of Yucatán.  He added that 75 percent of companies that support Bancomext nationwide are (Mipymes), so this agreement is held to focus on this particular sector which is a key driver for the economic development of the country proposed by President Enrique Peña Nieto.

The agreement’s main purpose is to establish the basic framework, so projects of this nature can be implemented to strengthen the “Mipymes” in the entity of export activities, as well as provide financing that guarantees the business development  in the tourism sector.
