“It will be a happy, safe and professional carnival”: Barrera Concha

The Mayor of the City of Merida, Renan Barrera Concha, reported that the organization of the “Carnaval 2014” has many improvements and next week will be defined the official road map of the parade in the grounds of Xmatkuil Fair, new home of the carnival.

“The urban transportation from Downtown to Xmatkuil, admission to the event, musical performances and other world-class shows will be free for everybody”, Barrera Concha anticipated . “Except for the VIP boxes that will be installed along the course under the usual conditions.”

3_090114p8carnavalphoto01-300x199“We are ready to introduce many of the advances and developments in this new version of the Carnival ,” he said . “Next week we will define the itinerary, as well as the access and exit points.”

The Municipality is working closely with radio and television stations to bring international artists because this administration wants to organize the best Carnival in the history of Merida.

“The parades will be the same. We are just adjusting the logistics,” he said. “We want all kinds of people to assist and enjoy the Carnival without spending more money.”

“The Carnival will be very different from the Xmatkuil Yucatan State Fair, almost everything will be free, including internal transport service,” he added.

The Mayor declared that they are finishing to allocate the special budget for the Carnival, and as soon as it is ready it will be presented to the council for their approval. The change of this event from Paseo de Montejo and Downtown to the fairgrounds of Xmatkuil, generates high expectations, and any doubts will be solved by this organization.

Adapting the fairgrounds to host the 2014 Carnival, included new electrical infrastructure, basic equipment, installation of stands and portable toilets.

“It will be a happy, safe and professional carnival,” Barrera Concha predicted .
