International House of Pancakes® began making breakfast memorable in 1958 when it opened its doors in the suburbs of Los Angeles. Fifteen years later, a new marketing campaign introduced the acronym “IHOP”, and since then it’s been the name people know as the place where they can enjoy their favorite breakfast experience – any time of the day.

Throughout their 54-year history, they have celebrated the opening of over 1,550 restaurant across the United States, and around the world. And they introduced iconic favorites – like the Rooty Tooty Fresh ‘N Fruity® – that people in America have grown up with, and now enjoy with their own children.

This American restaurant chain recently announced that they are planning to invest 22 million dollars in Mexico, opening two new branches in the states of Yucatan and Puebla (they already have presence in Queretaro, Monterrey, Guadalajara, Hermosillo and Mexico City).

And in 2014, Altabrisa will count with their own International House of Pancakes for all of Merida to enjoy. This is again, another sign  of the Yucatan being recognized as a franchising haven.

IHOP has 15 branches in Mexico, which means that it has directly invested over $ 30 million, as each location has a cost of between 1.5 and 2.5 million, as it was declared by executives of this company in a statement on October 2013. There are 7 branches only in Mexico City, which generate 500 direct jobs and aim to reach a total of 670 by the end of this year.

IHOP considered that due to the accelerated pace of the Mexican market, by the end of 2014 they expect to have more than 20 branches in the country.
