Expo Feria Valladolid 2014
From January 24 to February 9, 2014, “Expo Feria Valladolid” (Valladolid Expo Fair) will be held as a cultural tradition in honor of the Virgin of Candelaria, in Valladolid.
The program of the fair will consist in a wide variety of family events, such as “Forever Circus”, kids shows, regional dance exhibitions, as well as the participation of local and national singers, “charreadas” and school visits.
Valladolid is known as the second “Magic Town” of Yucatan, for its colonial architecture, the beauty of its streets, their culture, traditions and the cuisine offered to visitors.
As part of the Fair, mexican artists such as “Belanova” and the band “Los Recoditos” will be performing in the facility known as “Lienzo Charro Los Gavilanes”.
The Aguilar Santoyo family, owner of the ex hacienda San Lorenzo Oxman, donated to the municipality two acres of land to build a new fairgrounds for the expo fair 2015. Just a few meters from this site, the Periferico Sur highway is currently under construction.
The ex hacienda San Lorenzo Oxman has a historical background. Historians argue that it was a crossing point for travelers who moved to what is now Leona Vicario and Felipe Carrillo Puerto, two communities in the neighboring State of Quintana Roo, but it also had an important role as headquarters during the Caste War and the Mexican Revolution.
