Cancun begins the year 2014 as the undisputed leading tourist destination in the whole region of Latin America. During the first month of the year Cancun has maintained 90 percent of hotel occupancy.

After a great tourism success during the December holidays and record high occupancy levels and arrivals in the first two weeks of 2014, Cancun has become the number one tourist destination in Latin America“, said Jesus Almaguer Salazar, Director of the Conventions and Visitors Board (Oficina de Visitantes y Convenciones).

We remain in the preference of the U.S. and Canadian markets, besides, there is a significant increase in domestic tourism, which is very important in order to reach excellent destination figures in occupation. And finally, we registered a significant increase of European and South American tourism” , Almaguer Salazar said.
