A mega luxury yacht arrives to Progreso for the first time

On Monday January 20 two cruisers docked in Progreso, the Island Sky mega luxury yacht and the Carnival Triumph.

The Island Sky is a mega luxury yacht, 90.5 meters long and 14 meters wide, owned by the cruise line Sky Island Shipping Inc., based in Bahamas, where the ship has its home harbor. The boat docked in the port of Progreso on Sunday January 19, as part of its journey through the Caribbean Sea and Central America. With a stay of 38 hours, the 140 passengers, who paid about 10 thousand euros each for one week cruise, will be visiting Celestun to enjoy the attractions there.

The Cruisers Coordinator for the Secretary of Tourism Promotion of Yucatan, Abraham Villanueva Montes de Oca , said that this mega luxury yacht did not even requested the “shuttle bus”service to the port of Progreso.

The Island Sky overnight in the north side of the cruise terminal, and its passengers, with high purchasing power, had the option to join the people of the Carnival Triumph to use the free bus service to visit the Port of Progreso or even the City of Merida.

The Island Sky yacht comes from Cozumel, Quintana Roo, as part of its tour through Central America and the Caribbean. This is the first time that this ship docks in Progreso, Yucatan.

The mega yacht is operated by the Swedish shipping Salén Ship Management AB, based in Gothenburg, Sweden.
