“Viva la Navidad Christmas Fair” at “La Plancha”

The State Government , the Instituto Promotor de Ferias de Yucatán and the State DIF announced a series of events known as “Viva la Navidad”, which will be held from December 7, 2013 to January 6, 2014 on the grounds of the former train station in Mérida known as “La Plancha”.

At a press conference, the president of the Instituto Promotor de Ferias de Yucatán Juan José Abraham Achach said that this new series of events expect to have more than 300,000 visitors from all over the State in a 30 day period.

The official explained that the infrastructure used during the military exhibition last October will be used for the “Viva la Navidad” program.

Among the activities highlighted are 78 presentations by the Atayde Brothers Circus, the Christmas Village, carnival rides and atractions for both, adults and children, a stage for musical and dance performances, clowns’ shows and much more.










Achach Abraham stated that through the DIF Yucatán free circus tickets will be given to civic associations, municipalities, villages, schools and other organizations throughout the State of Yucatan.


The activities of “Viva la Navidad” will continue on December 24, 25 and 31 and January 1 on a regular basis. Also free public transportation will be provided to the public. The routes will be defined and make public in coming days.

Regarding access and parking spaces for the event, Abraham Achach reported that these are located on the streets 48 and 46.

The grand opening will be presided by Governor Rolando Zapata tonight at 7 pm .

The fair will be open to the public from Monday to Saturday from 5 to 10 pm, and Sundasy from 12 noon to 10 pm, free admission.
