Opera singer Filippa Giordano, FICMaya Big Opening Act
Filippa Giordano, Italian Opera singer will be performing at the Opening Act of the Mayan Culture International Festival (FICMaya), on Thursday October 17th at 8:30pm at the Main Plaza (Plaza Grande), downtown Merida.
Filippa was born in Palermo, Italy and she is the youngest daughter of a family of musicians. At the age of nine, she joined the National Ballet Academy of Rome (where she moved with her family).
Filippa grew up in the Opera world following the steps of her mother, who was also an opera singer; but at the same time, she fell in love with Pop Music so she decided to start her singing studies with her mother as teacher, developing the techniques for both genres Opera and Pop.
In September 1998 she released her first album “Passioni”., this was the beginning of a successful career as a recording artist.
In the year 2008 she married Mexican businessman Brando Lomelí, obtaining the Mexican citizenship in 2010.
A new era initiated for Filippa, who was captivated by a new musical genre that reflects what Mexico means in her life and career.
Filippa will be performing along with the Yucatan Symphonic Orchestra.
