PLAYA DEL CARMEN, MX. – An alleged member of the criminal group Los Zetas was charged with derecho de piso (extortion) by a businesswoman in the Fifth Avenue in Playa, $50,000 pesos to not kill her family.
The businesswoman, owner of the Pinturas de Aerosol store, reported that a young man identified himself as a member of Los Zetas and tried to extortion her. She reported it to the municipal police, who in an operative arrested Alfonso Diaz Gomez, of 22 years of age from the state of Chiapas, the 49 year old woman fully identified the detainee as the extortionist.
Diaz Gomez was taken to the offices of the Ministerio Publico, where he confessed to be an important member of Los Zetas.
CANCUN, MX. – A young woman from South Korea was raped in the mangrove area on the side of the bike path in the hotel zone. According to official information, the woman went to work out around 16:00 PM at kilometer 21 of the Hotel Zone when she was intercepted by a man, who under threat took her to the mangrove area and raped her.
The Ministerio Publico assigned to the Hotel Zone opened the investigation 233/2013.
The man was identified as Ernesto Esquivel Arreola, 44 years of age, who according to information from the judicial authorities was a civil engineer in charge of the redevelopment of Caribbean University (Unicaribe).
According with the autorities, the motive for the murder of the civil engineer, who was shot eight times, could be a matter of passion or for a complaint he filed for the payment of three million pesos in trail that is being heard in the state capital. The ministerial authorities discarded the case as being organized crime related.
PLAYA DEL CARMEN, MX. – Elements of the Municipal Tourist Police arrested two police officers of the same corporation when they were caught extorting a young couple who were talking on the beach. The corrupt officer asked Diego Issaiass Pérez Ledesma, 24-year-old from Monterrey and his girlfriend Artemisa Nieblas Castro, from Sonora 1,000 pesos each to avoid being arrested.
The Municipal Police stated that they will not tolerate acts against the social peace and security of the citizens of the city. The two police elements were put into custody in the Ministerio Publico and charged for crimes of extortion and abuse of authority.
TULUM, MX. – A skull was found last Saturday in the green area of the ejido de Tulum, the remains were identified as “Juan Vaca” who was an independent drug dealer.
Last February Juan Vaca was kidnapped along with three other persons. His family paid the ransom, the amount is unknown, however he remained as a hostage, the family decided not to file any complaint with the authorities as requested by the kidnapers in order to preserve his life.
The homicide has been ruled as organized crime execution.
