Progreso Gang Members Arrested with Homemade Bombs
Progreso Police officers arrested two suspects last Wednesday, July 11, who had in their possession homemade bombs and several knives. The two men were found in the neighborhood of Flamboyanes.
The suspects are known to participate in local gang activities.
21 year old, Orlando Piña Cauich member of “Los Sureños” gang and Joel Torres Jimenez alias “la perrita” and member of “Los Diablos” gang, were the two men arrested.
In total, 24 homemade bombs, a spear, and several knives (found in two buckets the men were carrying) were found on the men by officers.
The arrested men stated that they had planned on fighting rival gang members the day before their arrest, (Tuesday) but did not because police had arrived. They then planned to confront the rival gangs again on Wednesday and brought the bombs and knives to the fight, but the two were arrested before fighting could begin.
